Trilogy: Where Science Meets Nature

It can be a real challenge to get all of the vitamins and minerals you need on a daily basis from food alone. Even with a picture-perfect diet, many of the modern agricultural processes have led to a steep drop in nutrient density in our food supply. A possible answer? Supplementation. While it is not a catch-all solution proper supplementation can provide you with many of the essential vitamins and nutrients you need to not only survive but thrive.

The benefits of supplementation

Scientists have reported that while modern agricultural processes are increasing crop yields, they are disturbing the quality of the soil. These processes of irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting methods can end up disrupting essential interactions between plants and the soil, leading to less absorption of nutrients from the soil to the plant foods we are consuming.  These issues along with climate change and rising levels of carbon dioxide, are lowering the nutrient contents of fruits, vegetables, and grains.1 As a result, doctors often suggest quality multivitamins to protect patients from vitamin deficiencies, preserve their health, and reduce the risk of various chronic conditions.

Part I: Multivitamins

Multivitamins contain a combination of vitamins which are organic molecules essential in small quantities for proper metabolic function while minerals help our bodies develop and function properly. Each vitamin and mineral play a unique role in the health of the human body and scientific evidence shows the importance of nutrients as essential helpers in our biochemistry and metabolism. 2

Plant-based multivitamins provide a solution to ensure our body is getting the vitamins and minerals it needs from a diverse array of plant-based sources without synthetic ingredients. Having plant-based ingredients means there is food that our body recognizes, making it easier to digest, highly bioavailable, and reducing the risk of digestive discomfort.

Doctors now also prescribe over one billion dollars in fish oil supplements and gastroenterologists recommend probiotics. 2 Vibrant Health’s newest launch Trilogy is a dynamic 3-in-1 supplement with a plant-based multi-vitamin, probiotic, and omega-3. This supplement provides a 14 vitamin and mineral blend through strategic sourcing and formulating. Trilogy is suitable for individuals with varying diets including vegans and vegetarians and is available in both vegan and non-vegan form.

Multivitamin health benefits

  • May improve cardiovascular health: Studies indicate a connection between multivitamin supplementation and a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disease and decreasing the risk of heart attack with consistent long-term use.3
  • Boost cognitive function: Taking a daily multivitamin may improve memory, particularly among older adults at risk of cognitive decline. Studies indicated that daily multivitamin supplementation for 16 weeks significantly improved short-term memory. A double-blind study of 51 sedentary men between the ages of 50 and 74 also found that short-term multivitamin supplementation significantly improved the ability to recall previous experiences4
  • Improve mood: Research suggests that multivitamins may help to improve mood. A recent study showed a significant reduction in stress levels, physical fatigue, and anxiety following 16 weeks of multivitamins. Multivitamins containing larger doses of B vitamins have proven to be the most effective in improving mood. 5
  • Support eye health: Multivitamins can also slow down the progression of age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss. Antioxidantsfound in multivitamins, including vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc, protect the eye from degeneration and cellular damage. 6

The benefits of B12 and Vitamin D3 in a multivitamin

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a vitamin critical for red blood cell production and the development of the central nervous system. 7 Methylcobalamin (the form of B12 used in Trilogy) is the preferred form of B12 that is also found in nature. Vitamin B12 is not found in high concentrations in plants and is difficult for the body to absorb. The B12 in Trilogy adds an appropriate amount of B12 material produced through microbial fermentation.  Trilogy contains over 4000% of the DV to ensure enough is available for use in the body!

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient and one of the 24 micronutrients critical for human survival. Supplemental vitamin D is associated with a range of benefits, including improved immune health, bone health, cardiovascular health, and cognition. Supplementing with vitamin D may also help to reduce the risk of chronic disease.8

The Vitamin D3 materials in Trilogy provide 1,000 IU of D3.  The non-vegan version of Trilogy is sourced from Lanolin (sheep’s wool) while the Vegan version is sourced from Lichen, the only known vegan source of D3.

Part II: Omega-3 Fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats that perform essential functions in the body. Your body can’t produce the amount of omega-3s you need so omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients we need to get from our food and supplementation.9 Omega-3s are powerhouse players for many aspects of health including everything from our cardiovascular function, healthy cholesterol levels, vision, cognition, joints, healthy inflammation, and immune health.10

The Omega-3 fatty acids - non-vegan version of Trilogy are derived from sustainably sourced fish oil from anchovies, some of the most omega-3-rich fish in the world. Trilogy provides a total of 300mg of Omega-3s (EPA & DHA).  These Omega-3s are in “free fatty acid” form making them highly bioavailable and this form is up to 5x more absorbable than regular fish oils.

Omega-3 Fish Oil powder – vegan version The Omega-3 fatty acids used in the Vegan version are derived from Algae oil and provide a total of 300mg of Omega-3s (EPA & DHA).  These Omega-3s are in “free fatty acid” form as well making them highly bioavailable. People who eat an exclusively or mostly plant-based diet should supplement with EPA/DHA.

DHA is found in different kinds of fish and plant-based sources like algae and supports heart, joint, and whole-body health. It is associated with neurological functions such as improved memory, learning ability, and long-term cognitive health. 11

EPA is associated with many of the most well-known health benefits of omega-3s, including cardiovascular health (lipids, blood pressure, vascular function) and a healthy inflammatory response. EPA also seems to have a positive influence on behavior and mood. 12

Both Trilogy forms of Omega-3 Free fatty acids are combined with Lysine for stability and bioavailability.

Part III: Probiotics

Probiotics are food and supplements that contain live micro-organisms with the intent to maintain or improve the “good” bacteria in the body and keep the gut functioning optimally. How our gut microbiome functions is directly related to a number of factors including: our diet, exercise, stress, medications, sleep, and age.

Having poor gut health can lead to a variety of diseases such as diabetes, obesity, autism, cancer, Alzheimer’s, liver disease, colitis, IBS, and chronic fatigue syndrome. 13  Probiotics can help to combat this by reducing chronic inflammation, strengthening the gut barrier function, and promoting healthy skin and weight management. 14

Trilogy Probiotic Blend

Knowing that diversity is key to a rich and balanced microbiome, Trilogy provides 20 billion CFU per serving from 12 different strains of bacteria. These strains are based on clinical research and are high temperature resistant, bile, and gastric resistant, meaning they are designed to reach your intestinal tract, promote optimal gut health, boost immunity, and overall wellness. Trilogy includes a 100% overage (meaning we add 40 billion CFU) to ensure the highest potency at the time of expiration and is also vegan-safe and allergen-free.

While there are many supplements on the market, Trilogy combines the power of science with vitamins, minerals, and probiotics your body can use to thrive from the inside out. This 3-in-1 supplement is there to help you streamline your routine without sacrificing quality. For best results take 2 capsules of Trilogy once daily with a meal.
